Campground Information

At Deep Hole Recreation Area there’s no rush as the coffee begins brewing and the fire is stirred and built back up from the night before. The water of the Toccoa River, just a few feet from your campsite, flows by at a relaxed pace setting the mood for the rest of the day as you decide whether to check out nearby attractions like the Duncan Ridge National Recreation Trail, Chattahoochee National Fish Hatchery or just sit on the bench overlooking the river for a while. Whatever your preference this secluded campsite offers visitors an ideal experience to sit back and enjoy nature.

Located along the banks of the Toccoa River, this recreation area offers camping, boating and fishing. Deep Hole Recreation Area is open year round to campers, but water is only available from April to October. It is the start of the Toccoa River Canoe Trail and has an excellent canoe launch area. Floating down the Toccoa River is very popular among visitors. Fishing for bass, rainbow and brown trout is also a popular activity for many.

Eight campsites are available at this location and all sites feature picnic tables, fire rings/grill, tent pads, lantern posts and accessible toilets are available. The loop through the recreation area is gravel, also toilets and drinking water are available. Restrooms and some campsites are accessible to people with disabilities and the path to canoe launch and fishing deck is also accessible. All campsites are allowed up to 5 people per site as well as 2 vehicles per site. Campers and visitors are required to take all trash to the provided trash dumpsters upon departure.

Fees - This recreation area requires a fee for camping and day use. The camping fee is $12.00 per site per night and the day use fee is $5.00 per vehicle. All fees are enforced by management as well all campers and visitors are also expected and required to abide by Forest Service Rules and Regulations while camping or visiting on Forest Service Properties.

Directions - From Blue Ridge, Georgia, take GA Highway 515 North for approximately 4.5 miles to the traffic light and intersection of GA Highway 60. Turn right on Hwy 60 and go 0.5 miles to old U.S. Hwy 76. Turn left on Hwy 76 East for 5 miles to Morganton; turn right on Hwy. 60 South and travel about 14 miles. Deep Hole Recreation Area will be on the right, you will see the signs as you approach the entrance.
