Fee Station Campsites Hiking Picnic Area Restrooms Drinking Water

Campground Information

Located in the north Georgia Mountains, Desoto Falls Recreation Area offers camping, picnicking and hiking. This recreation area is open for camping from mid-April until mid November. There are 24 campsites available for camping in this area and all are equipped with tent pads, picnic tables and grills. Drinking water and restrooms are available as well. The loop through the recreation area is paved. Each campsite is allowed up to 5 people per site as well as 2 vehicles per site. Campers and visitors are required to take all trash to the provided trash dumpsters upon departure.

Fees
Desoto Falls recreation area requires a fee for camping. The campground fees are from $10.00 to $12.00 per site per night. All fees are enforced by management as well all campers and visitors are expected and required to abide by Forest Service Rules and Regulations while camping or visiting on Forest Service Properties.

Directions
From Blairsville, Georgia take U.S. 19 and 129 south for about 17 miles; turn right into the Desoto Falls Recreation area. The registration and fee station will be on the right as you go into the camping area entrance.

From Cleveland, Georgia take U.S. 129 north for about 15 miles and turn left into the Desoto Falls Recreation Area.


Recreation Day Use Information

Desoto Falls Scenic Area is adjacent to the campground, which is a favorite for hikers. The Desoto Falls Trail is a 2-mile trail; the first mile of the trail is fairly easy and leads to two waterfalls. The last mile of the trail is considerably more difficult and strenuous. Picnic tables, grills and restrooms are available for day use in this area also. Desoto Falls day use area is open year round. A day use fee is required at this recreation area of $3.00 per vehicle and is enforced by management. All visitors are expected and required to abide by Forest Service Rules and Regulations while visiting on Forest Service Properties.
